Who We Are

OUR STORY

Awakening the World to the Reality of Jesus

Arise was birthed out of hunger for awakening: first through prayer gatherings on college campuses in 2019, and then in 2020, as living rooms became places where ordinary people encountered the extraordinary presence of God. We’ve seen the lightbulb moments when prayer turns into encounter, when neighbors walk into house churches and find spiritual family, and when people unite together across societal divides to BE the church. 

OUR VISION

"For Awakening" 

We are "for awakening": awakening that happens in our time and in our day.  But what is awakening? 

Awakening is the "acceleration and intensification of the normal work of the Holy Spirit" (Jonathan Edwards). Our hope is that we would see personal awakening in the lives of those in our community and societal awakening in the city of Lexington and in the world around us. 

Personal awakening happens when you encounter the love of Jesus, are forgiven of your sin, and wake up to God’s presence in a daily relationship with His Spirit. We want everyone we encounter to experience this personal awakening. 

Societal awakening happens when the love of Jesus moves so deeply in the hearts of men and women on such a broad scale that the culture of an entire region shifts to look more like the kingdom of heaven. Societal awakening is a vision of God’s kingdom, marked by:

1) Renewal of the church
2) Deep wholeness in people
3) Evangelization of a generation
4) Transformation of society. 

Our prayer is that as personal awakening happens in individual lives, we would see this societal awakening take place as we continue to pray and contend for our family and friends, our neighborhoods, and our city. 

OUR MISSION

Transformation Around Tables

At Arise, we believe awakening starts when we each awaken to the presence of Jesus in everyday life. That’s why we gather primarily in homes. We gather around the table to share communion + meal, scripture + discussion, and prayer.

While we also gather monthly for corporate worship services, our focus remains personal. Awakening moves at the pace of friendship. You’re invited to join us.

Our core values center around creating a community where love, discipleship, transformation, and a Christ-centered lifestyle thrive, empowering each individual to grow in their faith and reflect Jesus in every aspect of life.

Belong in family-like community. This happens in our House Churches across the greater Lexington area.

Practice

Practice the Way of Jesus together through discipleship banding (a small group of three to five men or women who meet weekly to engage in transformational questions and to pray for one another).

Activate

Activate your gifts and identity by serving and living missionally in our communities.

Encounter

Encounter

Awaken the world to the reality of Jesus. We do this by contending together for God's awakening work in our day and in our time in the prayer room as we encounter His tangible presence.
