What We Believe
Beliefs
At Arise, we are rooted in the historic Christian faith, centered on the life, death, resurrection, and return of Jesus Christ. We affirm the core truths of Christianity as expressed in the Apostles’ Creed.
I believe in God,
The Father almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth,
And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
Born of the Virgin Mary,
Suffered under Pontius Pilate,
Was crucified, died and was buried;
He descended into hell;
On the third day he rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
And is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty;
From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
The holy universal Church,
The communion of saints,
The forgiveness of sins,
The resurrection of the body,
And the life everlasting. Amen.
We hold the Bible as the final authority for faith and life. We want to be a Spirit-filled people who depend on God in everything we do (2 Timothy 3:16; Romans 8:1-5).
We make disciples of Jesus who have been born again by grace, baptized into new life, and trained to obey Jesus’ teachings. This is the calling of every believer, and the mission of the Church (Matthew 28:18-19).
While we are united with Christians of many traditions in our core beliefs, our community carries distinct “accents” that shape our life together:
• Traditionally Orthodox — We are rooted in the historic Christian faith and let scripture guide us above shifting cultural trends.
• Theologically Wesleyan — We believe God’s holy love is available to each person, and that His grace can transform anyone. He calls us into spiritual transformation and invites all believers to join His work here on earth.
• Practically Charismatic — We expect God’s Spirit to be active in our daily lives, filling, guiding, empowering, and awakening us to join Him in His work.
